Leonhard Offerhaus

Leonard Offerhaus (urodzony 18 listopada 1699 w Hamm , † 18 października 1779 w Groningen ) był niemieckim historykiem mieszkającym w Holandii .

Życie

Leonhard był synem ówczesnego profesora gimnazjum w Hamm, a później profesora teologii i języków orientalnych Christiana Gerharda Offerhausa (1612–1758) i jego żony Margarety Heshuysen. W 1706 roku odbył pierwszą naukę w gimnazjum w Deventer . Jego naukę kontynuował w 1714 r. W gimnazjum w Gouda, aw 1717 r. Rozpoczął studia teologiczne u swojego ojca w Athaneum Illustre Deventer. Kontynuował studia w 1723 roku na Uniwersytecie w Utrechcie z Hieronymus van Alphen Simons (1665/42), Friedrich Adolph Lampe (1683/29) i Karl Andreas Düker (1660/52).

W 1725 r. Otrzymał profesurę historii i retoryki w liceum akademickim w Lingen , którą objął 25 lutego przemówieniem Oratio de persecutione Waldensium. W 1728 r. Kuratorzy Uniwersytetu w Groningen mianowali go profesorem na tym samym stanowisku, które objął 29 lipca przemówieniem de causis Incrementi Antichristi sex prioribus seculis sive de Antichristo in utero ante ipsius ortum et natitavit . Po jego dalszych pracach powstał Compendium hist. Foeder. Belgii (Groningen 1753). Uczył także o starożytności rzymskiej, m.in. wykładał de historia virorum eruditorum w latach 1776/77 . Offerhaus brał również udział w zadaniach organizacyjnych uniwersytetu i był rektorem alma mater w 1738, 1745, 1747 i 1754 roku. 10 maja 1779 został profesorem Honorarius, ale po otrzymaniu tego zaszczytu zmarł. Offerhaus był również członkiem Holenderskiej Akademii Nauk.

rodzina

Od małżeństwa z Kornelią Huysingą w 1731 roku (1702-28 lipca 1751) miał pięcioro dzieci. Ojciec przeżył dwie córki i jeden syn. Kaznodzieja z Winsum, Herman Johan, jest znany z dzieci. Jego córka Elisabeth wyszła za mąż za NM d'Assonville, a następnie Johann Gregori te Vere i córka Cornelia Christina poślubili JH Warmolts.
